good food most of the time...

Sitting at the hibachi tables is by far the only way to truly enjoy this restaurant. The chef's are great and the food is outstanding. However, if you are popping in for the lunch special, it is hit or miss. Some days it is outstanding for the price, other days the noodles are cold or the rice is cold, probably because it is prepared or something to keep up with the lunch crowd. Overall, I still love Samurai and think it blows Shogun away.

Samurai Steak and Sushi

This is hands down, the best japanese restaurant in town. Let me start by informing everyone that there are three ways to dine in this beautiful, dim lit, sushi/steak house. First, you can sit at the sushi bar, which serves up fresh tuna, shrimp, eel, maki, and crab. I always like to start off with the dynamite roll or the rainbow roll, which is colorful to say the least. Secondly, you can sit down at a regular kitchen served table, and eat any number of fresh chicken, seafood, or beef dishes prepared in the kitchen by Chef Hidashi. I highly recomend the Kal-bee, which is beef spare ribs , heavily marinated and seared with green onions. I also recomend, (for highly experienced asian foodies) the kimchee or, which is an old time korean dish or the seaweed salad. Thirdly, you can sit at any of 12 hibachi or "teppanyaki" ( which means grill in japanese) tables. If you have ever ate at a hibachi restaurant, you must know how fun and exciting this experience really is. When we were sat, we were greeted by the waitress who brought us a chicken based soup and a salad with our choice of a mayo based or ginger based dressing, both were excellent. Once our chef Wade arrived, he started off by pouring the seafood sauce , which is magnificent. He first put the rice on the grill, then vegetables, and finally the filet mignon, chicken, lobster and shrimp. If you love food and cooking as much as me, you will love that smell of the steam and smoke coming off the grill as you sit there drooling. Just kidding, not really drooling, but damn close. Finally, after all the tricks, such as the egg roll, the spinning spatula, and the huge, eye brow removing , fiery flame that engulfs the the whole grill, we finally ate. My filet was great, my shrimp and lobster was perfect and the rice was fried just right.........To say the least, I walked away feeling full and my money well spent. I highly recommend Samurai steak and sushi to any couple, family, or anyone simply wanting to grab some lunch. By the way they have they have a $5.99 lunch special every day before 2p.m. They also have a full bar serving great hot saki, a wide arrangement of white and red wines, kirin ichibon on tap, sapporo or any mixed drink you can think of. Call your lunch in ahead of time and make reservations for the weekend, but i will guarantee that it will a memorable night for you and yours.

Great Stir fry, sushi. Noodles are OK. Sometimes service is very fast, sometimes not so fast!
